Farm Raiders Privacy Policy
Farm Raiders is a farm puzzle game for iPhone and Android phones, made by Grow Media Limited, a New Zealand company, which publishes it as “Grow Media” on the App Store and Google Play (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the game and this website collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and your choices and rights. It is written under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, which applies to everything it describes, and section 13 adds what the law where you live may give you.
The rules for playing the game are in the Farm Raiders Terms of Service.
1. The short version
- There is no account. Farm Raiders doesn’t ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
- Your farm is saved on your phone.
- The game sends our server information about how it is played, linked to a random code made for your copy of the game, not to you by name. We use it to run the game’s online features, fix bugs and make the game better.
- Google’s Firebase sends us crash reports and basic app statistics.
- The game may show ads from ad networks such as Google AdMob, which collect information to do so. Ads aren’t personalised by default. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your consent before showing any ads, and on iPhone nothing tracks you across apps unless you allow it.
- We don’t sell your information.
- Settings → Privacy → Delete my data removes everything our server holds about your copy of the game.
2. Who we are
Grow Media Limited, a company registered in New Zealand, is responsible for your information as the “agency” under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 (and the “controller” under European law). Questions and requests about your information go to the email address below.

You can also write to us in the game, in Settings → Feedback & bug reports.
3. What we collect and why
Your farm is saved on your phone, and we don’t keep a copy of it. Reminders such as “Your house is ready!” are set on your phone itself, so we don’t receive a notification address. When the game is online, it sends our server the information below.
A random code for your copy of the game
The first time it starts, the game makes a long random code and sends it with each request about your copy of the game, so that our server can tell your copy apart from others. The code isn’t made from anything about you, and our server stores only a scrambled (hashed) form of it. Our server also gives your copy a short player code, shown in Settings under the version number, so that we can find your information if you contact us.
How you play
The modes and levels you play, your results and progress (such as scores, stars and wins), what you do on your farm with in-game coins (such as selling, buying, cooking and building), your answers if the game asks you to rate a level or the game, and which version you get when we try out a change. We use this to balance and improve the game. Added up across all players, sales also set the in-game market prices; other players never see what you did.
Buildings, animals and Inbox
Your buildings’ timers, your animals (with any names you give them) and your Inbox messages live on our server, so that they work the same for everyone.
What you send us
Feedback you send from the game (for example from Settings → Feedback & bug reports), along with details the game adds to help us find the problem: your device, the state of your farm and of any game in progress, your recent actions in the game and any errors. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We may publish what you write in feedback, for example as a quote on our website or store pages, but never your player code, the details the game adds or anything else that identifies you, and we’ll take a quote down if you ask.
Bug reports
A short log of the game’s main actions (such as the screens you open, the games you play and what you buy or sell with coins), errors the game runs into, and details of your device, such as its model, operating system, language, screen and connection type. We use these to find and fix bugs.
Crash reports and app statistics (Google Firebase)
If the game crashes or hits an unexpected error, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a report: where in the game’s code it happened, your device’s model and state at the time, and your player code. Google Analytics for Firebase records basic usage, such as when the game is opened, how long it is used and the ads shown and what they earn, with your device type and approximate location (such as the country). We use these to keep the game stable and understand overall usage. Firebase gives your copy of the game its own random IDs. It doesn’t collect your advertising identifier or your phone’s own identifiers, and Google signals and Analytics’ advertising features are switched off, so Analytics isn’t used for ads or linked to a Google account.
Technical information
Like any app that goes online, the game reaches our hosting provider, Cloudflare, with your device’s IP address. We use it to deliver the game’s data and to stop abuse; our database doesn’t store it. The game’s engine may send Unity Technologies anonymous hardware statistics (see Unity’s privacy policy).
What we don’t collect
Your name, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location, or anything from your camera or microphone. We only have your email address if you email us. There is nothing to buy in Farm Raiders, so we never handle payment details.
We don’t make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
4. Ads
Farm Raiders is free and may show ads to help pay for itself: videos you choose to watch for an in-game bonus, and full-screen ads between rounds. We may change which ads appear, how often, and whether they may be personalised. Google AdMob shows them today. We may add other ad networks, such as Unity Ads, directly or through AdMob, and this section will name each one before the game uses it.
When the game shows ads, the ad network collects information from your device to show and measure ads, limit how often you see the same one and prevent fraud. This includes your advertising identifier where permitted (on iPhone, only if you allow tracking), identifiers that apply only to this game or its publisher, your IP address and approximate location, details of your device and the game, diagnostics such as how quickly ads load, and how you use the game and its ads. Each network uses it under its own privacy policy: for AdMob, Google’s privacy policy; see also how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- Not personalised by default. The game asks Google for ads that aren’t personalised, chosen using things like the game itself and your general location.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. Before any ads, the game shows Google’s consent form, because even ads that aren’t personalised store or read information on your device. You can say no and keep playing; you then see only limited ads, or none.
- Personalised ads, if we offer them, are shown in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only with your consent, in US states with privacy laws you can opt out, and on iPhone an ad network can use your advertising identifier only if you allow tracking when asked.
- Changing your mind. Use Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices (shown where these choices apply), or your phone’s settings: on iPhone, Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android, Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads.
We don’t give advertisers or ad networks the information our own server holds.
5. Who else handles it
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) hosts our server, databases and this website, and forwards emails sent to support@farmraiders.com.
- Google LLC (United States) runs Firebase for us and hosts the mailbox where our support emails arrive. It also runs AdMob, which collects information directly from the game when it shows ads, under Google’s own privacy policy (section 4).
- Other ad networks, such as Unity Ads (Unity Technologies), only if we add them: like AdMob, they would collect information directly from the game when they show ads, under their own privacy policies, and section 4 names every network the game uses.
- Unity Technologies receives the engine’s hardware statistics.
- Apple and Google run the App Store and Google Play under their own policies, and may give us reports such as how many people installed the game and, if you allow it, crash reports.
Our service providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to our professional advisers, or to protect our players, ourselves or others. If Grow Media Limited, Farm Raiders or any part of our business or assets is sold, merged, acquired, reorganised or transferred, including in an insolvency, the information we hold is one of the assets that may be disclosed to the buyer or successor and their advisers (before a deal, under confidentiality) and transferred to them, and they may keep using it as this policy describes. Links and ads can take you to other companies’ websites and apps, which have their own privacy policies.
6. How long we keep it
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| How you play; feedback, with the details sent with it; emails | Up to 24 months |
| Your copy of the game’s records: its hashed code, player code, buildings, animals and Inbox | Until 24 months after your copy of the game last connects |
| The bug-report log, and the results of actions with your animals | 30 days after we receive them |
| Error records | 90 days after the error was last seen |
| Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) | 90 days |
| App statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) | 2 months |
| Cloudflare’s request logs | Up to 7 days |
| Backups of our databases | Up to 90 days |
After that, information is deleted or combined into totals that no longer relate to your copy of the game. Delete my data removes your information from our server at once, and copies in our backups are gone within 90 days. Google keeps what it collects for ads under its own policies.
7. Your choices
- Delete my data. Settings → Privacy → Delete my data removes everything our server holds about your copy of the game, including your statistics, your buildings’ progress, your animals, your Inbox and any feedback you sent. It needs an internet connection. Your farm stays on your phone unless you also switch on Delete my farm too, which clears the phone as well and starts the game again. Afterwards the game connects as a new copy of the game, with a new random code. Messages sent to every player, and totals that don’t relate to any one copy of the game, aren’t affected. Crash reports and app statistics in Firebase expire on their own (section 6).
- Ads. See section 4.
- Notifications. Turn the game’s reminders on or off in your phone’s settings.
- Stopping collection. The game sends the information in section 3 whenever it is online, and there is no separate switch for it. To stop it all, use Delete my data and then uninstall the game, which also deletes your farm.
- What you type. Please leave personal details out of animal names and feedback.
8. Your rights
New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 gives you the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, to get access to it, and to ask us to correct it (information privacy principles 6 and 7). We extend the same to every player, and will also delete information on request. Email support@farmraiders.com with your player code (shown in Settings). Because we don’t know who you are, we may ask you to confirm the request from inside the game, so that we know it comes from the phone the information belongs to. We reply within one month, or within 20 working days if that is sooner. Requests are free, and using your rights won’t count against you.
If we don’t make a correction you ask for, we will attach a statement of the correction you wanted. If you aren’t happy with how we’ve handled your information or a request, please tell us; you can also complain to New Zealand’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
If you live outside New Zealand, section 13 explains the further rights your local law may give you.
9. Children
Farm Raiders is meant for players aged 13 and over and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, for example in feedback or an animal name, contact us and we will delete it, or use Delete my data on the child’s phone. In some countries you must be older to agree to personalised ads yourself (section 13); if that applies to you, ask a parent or guardian first, or simply say no. The game works the same either way.
10. Security and international transfers
Everything the game sends travels encrypted (HTTPS). Our server keeps only a hashed form of your code, checks the form and size of what the game sends and limits how many requests can be made, and only the people at Grow Media who run the game can reach our databases. No system is perfectly secure. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and you as soon as practicable, in the game or by a public notice, and other authorities where their laws require it.
Our databases are hosted by Cloudflare in North America, and Cloudflare handles requests in data centres around the world. Google and Unity may process information in the United States and other countries, and we reach it from New Zealand and wherever else we work. Information our service providers hold for us stays our responsibility under New Zealand’s Privacy Act; where information goes overseas to an organisation that uses it for its own purposes, such as Google for ads, we rely on information privacy principle 12. Section 13 explains the safeguards for players in places whose law sets rules for transfers. You can ask us for details.
11. This website
farmraiders.com sets no cookies, uses no analytics or ads, and loads nothing from other companies. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes your IP address and basic details of each request to deliver the pages and protect the site.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date at the top, and if a change is significant, we will tell you in the game, for example in your Inbox, before it takes effect. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop playing and use Settings → Privacy → Delete my data.
13. Additional information for your location
New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 applies to everything in this policy. If you live in one of the places below, its law gives you the following as well, and where it differs from the rest of this policy, this section applies to you.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
- United States
- Australia
- Canada
- Brazil
- Philippines
- Thailand
13.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
The GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection apply, and Grow Media Limited is the controller (contact details in section 2).
Legal bases. The law requires a legal basis for each use of your information. Ours are:
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Run the online features you use: recognise your copy of the game, keep your buildings, animals and Inbox, answer your feedback and carry out Delete my data. | Performance of our contract with you. |
| Balance and improve the game, set market prices, fix bugs and crashes, measure overall usage, keep the game secure and fair, and answer emails. | Legitimate interests: making the game work well, fairly and safely. The information is linked to a random code, not to your identity, and you can object. |
| Publish feedback as quotes, without anything that identifies you. | Legitimate interests: telling people about the game. You can ask us to take a quote down. |
| Show ads that aren’t personalised (the default). | Legitimate interests in funding a free game, and your consent where the law requires it to store or read information on your device. |
| Show personalised ads. | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. |
| Meet our legal obligations, establish or defend legal claims, and sell or reorganise our business. | Legal obligation; legitimate interests. |
Your rights. You can access your information and get a copy of it, have it corrected or deleted, restrict how we use it, receive it in a portable format, object to uses based on legitimate interests (including game statistics), and withdraw your consent at any time (for ads, in Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices), without affecting what was done before. Ask us as section 8 describes.
Complaints. You can complain to a data protection authority, in particular where you live or work: your country’s authority in the EEA, the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK (ico.org.uk), or the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner in Switzerland (edoeb.admin.ch).
International transfers. The European Commission and the UK recognise New Zealand as giving adequate protection. Transfers to other countries without an adequacy decision, such as to our service providers in the United States, are protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and their UK and Swiss equivalents), or by the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions where a provider is certified under it.
Age. In parts of the EU you must be up to 16 to agree to personalised ads yourself; below that age, a parent or guardian decides.
13.2 United States
This section covers California and the other US states with consumer privacy laws.
- What we collect. In the last 12 months: identifiers (the random codes in section 3, your IP address and, when the game shows ads, your advertising identifier); internet or other electronic network activity (how you play, crash reports and your interactions with ads); approximate location from your IP address; and what you send us (animal names, feedback and emails). We don’t collect sensitive personal information.
- Sources, purposes and retention. From you and your device, for the purposes in sections 3 and 4, kept as section 6 says, and disclosed for business purposes to the service providers in section 5.
- Selling and sharing. We don’t sell your personal information. Unless ads are personalised, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioural advertising either. If they are, ad networks’ use of your advertising identifier and ad interactions may count as “sharing”, and you can opt out in Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices. We don’t knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16.
- Your rights. To know what we collect and how we use it, to access, correct and delete it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. You can use them yourself or through an authorised agent (we will ask for proof of the agent’s authority); we verify requests as section 8 describes. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.
- Children. Farm Raiders isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information (section 9).
- Do Not Track. This website doesn’t track visitors across other websites, so it treats browsers the same whether or not they send a Do Not Track signal.
13.3 Australia
We handle information about players in Australia in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. You can play without telling us your name, as the game never asks for it. You can access and correct your information as section 8 describes. Your information is held in New Zealand, the United States and the other countries section 10 names, and we take reasonable steps to make sure those who handle it for us protect it. If you have a complaint, please tell us first; if you aren’t satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
13.4 Canada
Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act applies, and in Quebec the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. Questions and requests about your information go to support@farmraiders.com. You can access and correct your information, and withdraw your consent to uses that rely on it, subject to legal and contractual limits; stopping the game’s collection entirely means using Delete my data and uninstalling it (section 7). Your information is processed outside Canada, in New Zealand, the United States and other countries, where courts and authorities may be able to access it under local law. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
13.5 Brazil
The General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law No. 13,709/2018) applies. We rely on the same legal bases as section 13.1 lists: performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests, your consent for personalised ads, and our legal obligations. You have the right to confirm that we process your information; to access and correct it; to have unnecessary or excessive information anonymised, blocked or deleted; to portability; to deletion of information processed with your consent; to know with whom we share it; to know that you may refuse consent and what follows if you do; and to revoke your consent. Ask us as section 8 describes. Your information is transferred abroad with the safeguards the LGPD allows, such as standard contractual clauses. You can complain to the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD, gov.br/anpd). If you are under 18, a parent or guardian agrees to our terms for you and decides about personalised ads.
13.6 Philippines
The Data Privacy Act of 2012 applies. You have the right to be informed about how we process your information, to access it, to object to its processing, to have it corrected, erased or blocked, to receive it in a portable format, and to be compensated for damage caused by unlawful processing. Ask us as section 8 describes. You can complain to the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
13.7 Thailand
The Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) applies. You have the right to access your information and get a copy of it, to receive it in a portable format, to object to its processing, to have it deleted or anonymised, to restrict its use, to have it corrected, and to withdraw your consent. Ask us as section 8 describes. You can complain to the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee (pdpc.or.th). If you are under 20, ask a parent or guardian before agreeing to personalised ads.
